South Boston Real Estate
Located just over the bridge from the South End and west of the Seaport area, South Boston is one of Boston’s most storied and historically significant neighborhoods. What was once an area populated largely with first and second generation Irish-Americans, South Boston has increasingly become a popular destination for young professionals from all backgrounds. The restaurants, bars, and shops of West Broadway continue to grow more popular, while the Eastside remains a popular summer destination with its miles of beaches and Castle Island. South Boston has seen a pronounced interest from developers in the past decade and a half. Upon buying triple-deckers in once undesirable areas and renovating them, South Boston property values have risen sharply.
Aside from Castle Island, South Boston is also home to Thomas Park, which contains a national monument commemorating the Patriots driving the British out of Boston. In the most recent phase of South Boston development, the Boston Redevelopment Authority is crafting initiatives for development along Dorchester Avenue, which spans from Andrew Station to Broadway, as they seek to revitalize an area which is moving away from the once industrial and manufacturing buildings into a more pronounced interest into residential demands.
