Originally created via a master plan from renowned architect Charles Bulfinch, the South End is considered one of Boston’s most sought-after neighborhoods. Known for it’s iconic brownstone houses, the South End actually contains the most Victorian Rowhouses of anywhere in the country. With great restaurants, open spaces, and charm throughout, the South End is approximately spread from Massachusetts Avenue on the West, Berkeley Street on the East, Columbus Avenue on the North, and Harrison Avenue on the South. Many of Greater Boston’s most highly regarded chefs and restaurateurs have set up shop in the South End, making it one of the best, and most ethnically diverse, dining areas in the city.

While many people categorize the South End for the neighborhood’s iconic brownstones, an increasingly large number of large warehouse, church, and industrial buildings have recently been converted into stunning condominiums and apartments. The South End has a great amount of open space with eleven designated park areas, including Peter’s Park along Washington Street and Titus Sparrow Park off of West Rutland Square. The South End is one of the city’s most popular neighborhoods, both for families, young professionals, and empty nesters.
